Feed My Sheep is a non-judgmental, faith based program dedicated to providing nourishment to the homeless, homebound and needy of the Gulfport area. Meals are served at 2615 19th Street
Gulfport, Mississippi Monday through Friday 11:45 am to 1:00 pm for free and there is no limit on how much a person can eat. Need Help With Bills, Food, Clothing, or Other Assistance?

Salvation Army - Mississippi Gulf Coast Area Command / Gulfport is one of the leading, most comprehensive social service agencies in the region. It offers programs for the economically disadvantaged as well as the homeless. Services include, but are not limited to, low income energy assistance (LIHEAP), free HUD counseling, weatherization program, Headstart, food pantry,case management and information and referral. Harrison County is supported by the Gulf Coast Community Action Agency. This non-profit agency provides basic needs and emergency assistance for those who qualify. The non-profit can offer case management, social services, free HUD foreclosure counseling, information and referral, low income energy assistance (LIHEAP), weatherization program, and also Headstart. 500 24th Street, Gulfport, Mississippi 39507, main phone number for service is (888) 603-4222

Division of Economic Assistance and Harrison County Human Services administers several government assistance programs. The focus is on assisting the working poor, senior citizens, disabled, and low income. The state of Mississippi uses federal government funds to administer programs such as SNAP food stamps and cash assistance from TANF. Other resources, such as Medicaid or section 8 housing, are offered as well. Any recipient of this public aid is required to attend job training, find employment, and gain self-sufficiency. MS Gulf Coast Area Command Office

Located at 2019 22nd Street in Downtown Gulfport, The Salvation Army has many resources to help with the homeless population and offers services for many people in need. A social worker is on site as well a healthcare liaison on Wednesdays (see left Healthcare for the Homeless). Vouchers are available for transportation. Backpacks and hygiene kits are given to those in need. A sample hygiene kit is seen below. The Fresh and Clean Program offers one a chance to do laundry and shower Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 11:30 am. Lynn Meadows Discovery Center

Educational museum offering classes and free play in a fun and educational atmosphere including programs for the community. A great place for homeschoolers to engage children in learning.
